Father Orbie, an oil well driller, and mechanic, and mother Nadine, a nurse, welcomed their middle son Roy Orbison into the world on April 23, 1936, in Vernon, Texas.
After the family relocated to Fort Worth in 1942, Orbison attended Denver Avenue Elementary School there before the family had to return to Vernon due to a polio fear.
Around this time, Orbison first became interested in music thanks to a guitar his father gave him for his birthday.
Orbison wed Claudette Frady in 1957; the couple had three sons: Roy, Anthony, and Wesley. When Frady had an affair with the builder of their new Tennessee home in the early 1960s, the marriage started to have problems.
The marriage was separated in 1964 as a result of additional infidelity. Two years later, while traveling with Orbison, Frady was killed in a motorbike accident. Roy and Alexander Orbison were born into the world when Orbison married German teen Barbara Jakobs in 1969.
What caused Roy Orbison’s death?
Throughout his life, Orbison struggled with his health. He had a triple coronary bypass in 1977 to clear blocked coronary arteries.
He developed ulcers in the past because of his frequent smoking. Orbison suffered a heart attack and died on December 6, 1988, at his mother’s house in Tennessee.
