Earlier this week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a secret visit to Stanford University in California so they could meet with professors and academics about their new charitable foundation. The couple also met with the university’s president, Marc Tessier-Lavigne.

According to Us Weekly, Harry and Meghan flew to Palo Alto, California, and were personally greeted by Tessier-Lavigne. This is the latest move by the couple towards their goal of becoming financially independent.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced in early January that they were stepping down as senior members of the royal family, they talked about splitting their time with their nine-month-old son Archie between the UK and North America.

“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” the couple wrote in a statement.

However, that “geographic balance” has seemingly shifted in recent weeks, and North America is getting all of the love over the UK. Harry and Meghan are living on Vancouver Island in Canada while making regular trips to the United States. At the same time, they’ve closed their office in Buckingham Palace and fired their royal staff.

In addition to their trip to Stanford, the couple were in Miami earlier this month for the JP Morgan summit, and Harry has reportedly been in talks with Goldman Sachs about future corporate speaking opportunities. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also been house hunting in Los Angeles, according to multiple sources.

An insider revealed last month that Meghan is more than ready to leave royal life behind and start making her own money again.

“Meghan loves the idea of being the breadwinner,” said the source. “She has no plans to do another show like Suits, but Harry’s been encouraging her to do more voice-over work, writing, producing and directing in her free time.”

A second source says that Meghan Markle is “actively looking for representation,” and she has already reached out to people to find a manager or agent to help her with future professional projects.
